My humble abode! ❤️

I love where I live and I’m so fortunate to have the little flat I live in! When me and my husband separated I moved in with my dad! He literally was and still is one of my rocks! The issue I had then was being able to afford a deposit for a new house! This was such an added stress. I then got some advice and I was told to apply for a council property along with put my name on the local housing association list. I knew I’d have to wait a while, because I have limited mobility and I’d need a ground floor property with adaptations that suit my needs. I had an appointment with a wonderful lady from occupational therapy. She was wonderful and her report got sent off! I joined the council list in around February time. I got awarded my points in July! I’d looked at one property already and it was just not suitable for me! I started bidding again and got the call about this flat. I was in second position so I really didn’t think I’d get it!! And to my amazement the first person decided they didn’t want it! Wow I was shocked! I mean it needed work but it was just what I wanted, a large living room and bedroom a bathroom with an accessible shower and a garden!! I literally signed the paperwork there and then! It’s been made perfect for me my wonderful family all came together! I’m so so thankful for this wonderful little flat, it’s hard to get a council properly these days and this opportunity has really saved me. I’ve learnt to be thankful of every opportunity that I’ve been blessed with.

One really good thing I’ve learnt is not to give up! Life throws us a lot of curve balls! Be thankful for our lives, be thankful for our homes and be thankful for each other. ❤️

  1. Yes, getting a council property is hard and high up on the list you would have been, its still always the question of how long the wait. You very lucky to get the opportunity. Have a lovely Christmas in it and making it your home.
